The Monday and Wednesday Lotto is one of the few lotto games in Australia that is played across the country in all the states and territories. This lottery began in New South Wales (NSW) and was operated and regulated by the New South Wales lotteries. Initially, it was a lottery that was only played within the state. But with time and because of its increased popularity the lottery became a national game. This lottery was originally known as ‘the big one’. After the introduction of Oz Lotto in 1994, the Monday and Wednesday Lotto began to go national. On 1st May 2006 South Australia and Western Australia started selling the Monday and Wednesday Lotto tickets in their jurisdictions. On October 13th, 2008 Tattersall’s started selling Monday and Wednesday Lotto in its territories as well. And finally, on 21st October 2013, Queensland’s golden casket begin selling the Monday and Wednesday Lotto tickets. In the southern part of Australia, the Lotto is known as X Lotto.
The very first draw of the Monday and Wednesday Lotto was on the 5th of November in 1979. An interesting thing to know would be that the New South Wales lotteries were actually among the last to join the Saturday Lotto in the year 2000.

How to play Monday & Wednesday
The Monday and Wednesday Lotto offers players the chance to win millions twice every week. In order to play this game players purchase tickets and have to choose numbers within the range of 1 to 45. Every Monday and Wednesday night 8 numbers within the range of 1 to 45 are drawn. Players who manage to get six of the drawn numbers must win the first division numbers. The first six numbers that are drawn are the winning numbers whereas the latter two are the Supplementary numbers. However, even if players do not match all six winning numbers there are still prices that begin from the lower division. The Monday and Wednesday draw offers players a guaranteed prize of 1 million Australian dollars and more. Not only was it gives an opportunity for 4 players to become winners in each draw.
The Monday and Wednesday Lotto draw happen as per its name every Monday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. AEST.
Who can play Monday & Wednesday
Players must be 18 years and older to purchase lotto tickets. The game is played throughout the country.

The odds of winning the Monday and Wednesday Lotto is similar to, if not identical to the Saturday Lotto odds. The divisions are divided the same as the Saturday Lotto as well. There are a total of six divisions of winners. The odds of winning this is 1 in 8,145,060. The second division winners match five numbers + supplementary. The odds of winning this division is 1 in 678,755. The third division winners match five numbers and the odds for this 1 in 36,689. For the fourth division, players match four numbers with odds 1 in 733 on their side. And for the fifth division, they have to match three numbers with either one or two supplementary numbers. For this, the odds of winning was 1 in 297. And finally, to win the sixth division with the odds 1 in 144, players matched one or two numbers with two supplementary numbers.
The odd of winning any prize is 1 in 85.

The cost of the tickets for a single line draw is 2 dollars.
Claiming the prize money
The process of claiming is different for online purchased and store-bought tickets. For the store-bought tickets, if the prize money was 1500 dollars, it could be claimed at any TattsLotto outlet. This also applied to prizes between 1500 dollars and 3999 dollars. If the outlet has sufficient money then the outlet can transfer the prize money to the winner. For prizes of more than 4000 dollars and less than 24,999 dollars, the TattsLotto outlets can transfer the prize money provided they receive the authorization to do so from the Tatts Company. The outlets can also transfer first division prizes if they happen to be less than 24,999 dollars. However, this is generally not the case. All first prize winners who have won more than 24,999 dollars must report to the TattsLotto office directly to claim the money. They have the option of remaining anonymous during a claim.
For tickets bought online, prizes will be directly transferred to the registered account. Division 1 winners will be given their prize money within the next 24 days from which the winning numbers are drawn and announced. Division 2 players will be paid within the next eight days of the draw. For all the other winners since the prize money will be lesser, they will be paid within the next 24 hours of the draw. Before the transfer, the winner will get a notification via e-mail stating that they have won. The players can use the money transferred to their account to play games further or choose to withdraw the prize money as a whole. All prize payments in Australia are done in a lump sum.
