The structure of the Pournami lotteries is simple. All of the tickets will are sold with a series of letters. There will be 12 series in total. All of these begin with the letter “R”. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, or N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, X, Y, Z will be inserted as second letters in alternate draws. These two letters are followed by a combination of six different numbers that range between 1 and 9. The winning combination number series in order of first prize to all the consolation prizes are announced during the draw. Post this, winners can claim their prizes. There is a total of 9 lakhs printed tickets in each of the series making the overall total number of tickets printed for sale to be 108 lakh. A total of Rs. 14, 91, 42, 000 will be distributed among 1, 93, 345 prizes.

The odds of winning this tier is 1 in 1, 111. For the fifth tier, the odds of winning is 1 in 833. The prize amounts to Rs.2, 000 and this is given out to 12, 960 winners. The next winners (sixth, seventh and eighth tiers) get Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 with odds of winning 1 in 332, 1 in 238 and 1 in 119 respectively.

Claiming the prize money
The Pournami lottery winners must claim their prize within 30 days from the day the winnings numbers are announced. Winners who win more than Rs. 1,00,000 should claim their prizes directly from the authority of the director of Kerala lotteries. The winner needs to affix their signature, name and address on the space provided in the back side of the lottery ticket. With this original ticket, the winner must also fill out a claim form, two passport sizes photos and receipt for prize money must be submitted. These can be submitted at a national or scheduled bank with a self-attested PAN card. Those who have won less than Rs. 1,00,000 can claim prizes from the district office.
Tax payments for Kerala's Pournami Lottery
30% will be deducted as the tax for prizes above Rs. 10,000. No surcharges are charged on the prize monies.
